Sorry to tell you.
Last night when I was talking to my bff about some girl, she described her as "only talks about art and bands". My bf said that to make the point that this girl is not cool. I know. It seems weird. I went to art school and have been in bands, seen many bands, toured with bands, blah blah. BUT. I do not want to talk about that stuff. I don't make art, I make stuff that serves no purpose and I like it that way. Right now I am making a replica of Damien Hirst's diamond skull, and it is for no reason other than ITS COOL. I paint pictures of Bijou Phillips, Lindsay Lohan, and Sam Ronson because I think they are cool. Art to me is the ashtray I purchased 2 days ago at this store that I am obsessed with. Its by my house and I call it "BOOP" cos they sell a lot of Betty Boop stuff (which I love). Actually I will tell you about all the things I purchased from this trove of treasure: a ceramic bank shaped as a Snoopy that is giving the peace sign and wearing a child's suit, a tapestry of a naked woman coiled with a snake, a day planner that says "Hip Hop Friends" with pictures of 4 kids with black people hair but snow white skin and the most prominent kid is wearing a Malcom X shirt--in small text it also says "Look into my eyes You will see what you mean to me"--its that Japanese type shit, something else that I can't remember, and an ashtray that is a skeleton laying in a bathtub (the bathtub is painted rasta colors), smoking a huge joint, and has a RASTA COLORED MOHAWK. THAT is fucking ART. Its so sick I can't even believe it. I make clothes to sell to people for a profit. Its not REALLY a profit because I don't make enough to cover the materials and time, but I'd do it anyway so why not get some money back? I don't care about talking about music or bands or records. It is the most boring thing of all time. Especailly noise music. Noise music is RETARDED. I do not have time for that shit. Black Dice was only good in the 90's when that adorable dirtbag singer would punch people in the face and they sounded like shit. I do enjoy talking about MEMBERS of bands though, specifically but not limited to Chad Smith, Steven Adler, Tommy Lee, Mick Mars, Lemy, Pat Smear, Lorna Doom, Greg Ginn, Lisa Crystal Carver, Chan Marshall, Courtney Love, Anthony Keidis, Dave Mustane, Eminem, Kelly Osbourne, Papa John, Kathleen Hanna, etc.
I love how since I'm writing this now whenever I talk to certain people who read this everything is going to be, "...oh, yeah I forgot, you HATE talking about bands." "You hate art". SO WHAT! I'll still talk about it cos I'll talk about ANYHTING. I just don't think that shit matters. Its the same as how I hate poetry, plays, musicals, sci-fi, period pieces, space, and underwater. Whats the big deal, I don't like it. You can like whatever you want.
